A Fiscally Sponsored Project
ASHA PUTHLI: TAKING SPACE is a feature documentary celebrating the re-emergence of Asha Puthli – the “disco mystic” – an Indian-born disco and experimental jazz icon whose cosmic musical journey was nearly lost to obscurity. After her stratospheric launch in the late 1960s, Asha disappeared. Now, nearly six decades later, Asha is back, expanding her musical legacy and continuing to break down barriers for women of color in music.
